About the Author

With more than two million books in print, David D. This book is one that will be useful for everyone, no matter your level of experience with photography or with Sony Mirrorless cameras. It starts at the most elementary level: how to unbox your camera, set up the basics and start using the camera with default settings. Experienced users will skip this chapter altogether. It continues with explanations of all the icon displays on the LCD and viewfinder screens. From there, Busch explains every one of the many menu settings and customizable features in some detail, what each does and most importantly, he suggests when each option is appropriate or counter productive to use. Chapters follow covering the more complex options such as auto focus or color control in much greater detail. You will appreciate this organization as your expertise grows. Go just as deep as you need at the right pace for you. Interspersed are suggestions and tips on photographic theory, history and composition.
I can’t imagine how you would learn all the features of this extremely complex but versatile camera without this book. The Sony comes-with manual is awful. You will refer back to Busch’s book as a reference for years to come as your skills develop to challenge the capability of the A6000 over time.

Yet another excellent entry in David Busch’s excellent output. I bought the Sony a6000 one day (!) before a trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, and had to learn on the fly. I have been a serious and, at times, professional photographer and photojournalist since the 1970s and have been extremely impressed with this camera. Like Mr. Busch’s other guides, this covers every aspect of the camera’s features (which are very rich and, at times, complicated) and then puts the camera in the context of good photography. A beginner can "start from scratch" and move from everything auto to more creative and serious photography, while a more experienced photography can dig deeply into the amazing technological advances in mirrorless cameras. His tone is conversational and encouraging, making it a most enjoyable read. If you own an a6000 already, you need this book; if you want to explore the world of mirrorless cameras, this is the model with which to begin, and the book to guide you in your exploration. I have attached a shot from the Grand Canyon, handheld with just the kit (16-50mm) lens. If I had had this book, it would undoubtedly have been even better!.

No sense my being long and drawn out about this. I’m thrilled when an item lives up to expectations. I own 2 other books by Mr. Busch, both of which are excellent. This one on the a6000 is matchless when compared to that of another author whose book I recently purchased. In the Busch book I’m finding information I need easily, and the explanations are uncomplicated the way I like’em! The a6000 with its mountain of features makes this book crucial because I want to get all I can out of this camera. Thank you, great job!
